Title of Position: Contract Lecturer
Applications are requested to teach one or more of the following courses (subject to availability):
Chemistry 1130: Modern Chemistry II (Winter 2018)
A continuation of Chemistry 1110 with the introduction of the following topics: states of matter, solution chemistry, thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, rates and mechanisms of chemical reactions.
Qualifications: PhD or MSc in Chemistry with experience teaching at the postsecondary level.
Computer Science 1411: Computer Programming (Fall 2017)
A first course in programming given in C - mathematical problem solving, program development, C grammar and simple system functions. Students will develop and write their own programs and run them in a time-sharing environment.
Qualifications: MSc or higher in Computer Science, with experience teaching at the postsecondary level; experience teaching programming using C or C++ preferred
Mathematics 1071: Vectors and Matrices (Fall 2017)
For students without grade 12 U Calculus and Vectors or equivalent. Cartesian coordinates; vectors in two and three dimensions; the dot product and components of vectors; the cross product; equations of lines and planes; complex numbers; vector spaces over the real and complex number systems; linear independence, bases and spanning sets; subspaces; matrices; addition and scalar multiplication of matrices; matrix multiplication; the transpose of a matrix; invertible matrices; systems of linear equations and row reduction; and determinants, including Cramer's rule.
Qualifications: MA or MSc in Mathematics or in a related field, with experience teaching at the postsecondary level
Physics 1212: Introductory Physics II (Winter 2018)
A calculus-based course intended for students in the physical sciences and applied sciences which includes Oscillations, mechanical waves and sound, electric charge, electric field. Coulomb's law, Gauss's law, applications of Gauss's law, electric potential, capacitance, dielectrics, current, resistance, direct current circuit, magnetic field, electromagnetic induction, alternating current, electromagnetic waves and wave properties of light, accompanied by related laboratory work.
Qualifications: PhD or MSc in Physics or related field with experience teaching at the postsecondary level.
Starting Date and Duration: Fall Term: September – December 2017
Winter Term: January – April 2018
Location: Barrie (Georgian College campus)
(NOTE: no travel allowance shall be payable).
