BOOKSTORE CLERK
COPE Position
Salary Scale $36,691 to $42,278


Under the general direction of the Bookstore Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the purchasing and management of general merchandise in the Bookstore. The following is a brief outline of the duties and qualifications of the position.  A job fact sheet detailing the required duties is available in the Office of Human Resources.

DUTIES:
    Procure all of the university's general merchandise, including clothing, drinkware, gifts, cards, degree frames and any other miscellany;
    Interaction and negotiations with vendors
    Facilitate and supervise inventory management, such as receiving, pricing, merchandising, transfers, stock counts, re-orders, mark-downs, write-offs and special orders in accordance with financial targets
    Maintain bookstore website and social media pages
    Prepare promotional displays and send out mailings to university departments
    Serve as the bookstore's chief representative when dealing with general merchandise related concerns
    Assign work as necessary to support staff
    Daily cashing in and out of tills, balancing tills
    Perform daily cash transactions
    Respond to all customer service inquiries
    Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum Grade 12 with 1 year experience in a related field;
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
    Ability to organize and prioritize;
    Ability to interact with students, staff, publishers and customers while exercising tact and judgement;
    Mathematical and computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office;
    Experience with current bookstore operating systems such as; Bookware, Datatel, Keynote;
