Academic Success

An important part of your Lakehead journey is choosing your courses. Be sure to review your program requirements in the Academic Calendar to know which classes are required for your program. Registration will run until late September, but it is wise to choose your classes early to ensure you save yourself a spot.

When registering for classes, we advise that you take the following steps:

  • Review your program requirements
  • Become familiar with Lakehead terminology
  • Pre-plan and build your course
  • Review your timetable after you register

Detailed information about course registration can be found here but don't forget to join us for Fast Pass June 22, 24-28 at both campuses:

1. New Student Guidebook

2. Student Central - Registering for Courses

3. Student Central - Registration Guide (with step by step instructions of how to use the Pre-Registration builder)

Campus Connections

We’re extremely proud to have a variety of student supports on campus across various departments. Over the next few issues of Wolfie’s Weekly Adventures, we’ll tell you a little about the departments and offices you’ll want to visit early so you know where to find help when you need it.

  • We (the Student Success Centre) met you in Issue 1, but in case you missed it, here’s a little more about us. The Student Success Centre provides academic support services to students through advising appointments, workshops, tutoring, and writing support. The SSC also helps students explore career paths, and provides tips for applying for part-time and full-time jobs. The SSC facilitates leadership development programs throughout the year and coordinates co-operative education opportunities for students.
  • Student Central is your one-stop shop providing support from enrolling at Lakehead through to course registration, financial support, academic advising and more. No matter the campus, we’re easy to find! In Orillia, we are located at the main entrance of Simcoe Hall. In Thunder Bay, we’re right off the Agora.

Thunder Bay and Orillia have more in common than just a Lakehead campus -- we’re both very sunny cities! Did you know Orillia is known as 'The Sunshine City'? This nickname comes from Stephen Leacock in his book Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. Leacock was a famous writer who called Orillia home. Statistically, Thunder Bay is the sunniest city in Eastern Canada! On average, Thunder Bay has 305 days of sunshine each year. That's a lot of vitamin D!
