Thunder Bay Summer Orientation

All new students who are starting their Lakehead Adventure in September 2017 are invited to join us for Summer Orientation! Let the Student Success Centre help guide you through your next steps as you meet fellow Thunderwolves, learn the ins and outs of life as a Lakehead student, gain some valuable academic success tips and tour campus. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

SUMMER ORIENTATION PROGRAMMING

8:45 am - Registration & Sign-in

Sign-in at the welcome table and meet your facilitator, Richard, our Student Engagement Advisor.

9:00 am - Icebreakers

Meet your fellow Thunderwolves!  Join Richard as he leads you through a series of icebreakers designed for you to interact and get to know other new students.  

9:30 am - Lakehead 101

Get to know your new home! Discover what it’s like to live and study at Lakehead. We’ll also share with you some of our favourite things to do on Campus and in Thunder Bay.

10:15 am -  Are You Ready For Academic Success?

In this session, we’ll provide you with information about the best practices students use for success at University in their academics, as well as with their social life and overall wellness.

10:45 am - Next Steps As a Lakehead Student

After attending Summer Orientation and registering for classes, now what? We’ll provide you with lots of direction to ensure you know what’s next on the list of things to do as you prepare for your Lakehead Adventure.

11:00 am - Orientation Campus Tour

Let our Student Ambassadors show you around as you learn to navigate campus, explore the facilities and talk with Student Services.

12:00 pm - Lunch Break

Take a lunch break! Discover the tasty food options from Aramark in our Main Cafeteria, venture off campus for a quick bite, or bring your own lunch and enjoy the outdoors. Please note, lunch is on your own, at your own cost.  

1:00 pm - Fast Pass

During Fast Pass you will gain an understanding about program requirements, register for classes, learn about Financial Aid, Awards and payment options, get your official Lakehead University student card and meet with course advisors. 2:30 pm & 3:00 pm - Tours of Residence

Are you staying in residence during your school year? If so, come check out your new home on campus! Tour Residence and discover the buildings, dorm rooms, social activities, and meal plans that are waiting for you.  Meet a Student Ambassador at the Library Circulation desk who will take you over to Residence.
