Tutoring Support

How do I find a tutor for an individual course?

The Academic Support Zone is making some big changes to the Peer Tutoring program! Free help is available at the Zone for students in the first and second year of most programs, and this schedule will begin after September 15.

Students who want individual tutoring can hire private tutors from the Tutor Registry, which will be found on mysuccess.lakeheadu.ca. The Tutor Registry is still under construction, but you can expect names of students who wish to be tutors and the courses they tutor will appear by mid-September. This registry is a work in progress, and it will change as people add their names and credentials to it. You can expect this service to be available the week of September 11.

If you want the services of a private tutor, starting this September, you will make your own arrangements to meet and pay the person. Lakehead University does not take responsibility for this transaction. Don't want to pay? Come to the Academic Zone and take advantage of the free academic supports there!

I want to become a tutor in the Academic Zone

Tutors are nominated by their departments and must be exemplary students who are able to help first and second year students in the courses normally taken for an academic program. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, check your grades, and send an email to the Coordinator of the Zone: academiczone.ssc@lakeheadu.ca by September 25.
