Eligibility / Health Insurance

All domestic and international students taking one or more credits/courses for the school year are eligible to use our services if they have paid their ancillary fee.

Opting out of the LUSU Health & Dental Plan does not impact your access to services from the Student Health and Counselling Centre.

If you have any questions regarding LUSU Health and Dental Plan please contact the LUSU office at 343-8259.

For information on International student plans such as the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), please speak with Financial Services department or visit the Lakehead’s International office if you have any question.

NOTE: *Residents from Quebec will be asked to fill out an insurance form at each appointment. Quebec students will be billed directly for lab work done by LifeLabs - contact your provincial health office regarding any reimbursement.

Exception to Coverage

These services include but are not limited to: third party physicals (i.e., for jobs or travel), completion of medical forms, liquid nitrogen treatments to hands, and transfers/copying of charts.  Please ensure you make an inquiry about payment processes prior to accessing care.
