Tourism Thunder Bay operates two Information Centres for the convenience of the travelling public: The Terry Fox Tourist Information Centre as you enter Thunder Bay from the east on Highway 11/17, and the Pagoda by the Thunder Bay's waterfront at Red River Road and Water Street. They are open daily over the summer season to answer all your questions about what to see and do or where to stay or dine – all the local information you need to help make your stay an enjoyable one.

Accommodation in Thunder Bay

There are a number of accommodations in Thunder Bay that fit your needs and budget. Lakehead University – in the centre of it all – is easily accessible to many points throughout the city.

Lakehead Residence (Dormitory-style rooms)

Rooms are divided into furnished single and basic single rooms, located on the third floor of Kenora House. The house will have separate male and female wash rooms, and access to a coin-operated laundry facility in the building. All bedrooms have a telephone, internet access, linen, pillow, towel, face cloth, bar of soap, plastic cup, a snack sized refrigerator, desk and desk chair, TV, bookcase, bulletin board, closet with dresser and clothes bar/clothes hangars. There is internet service through an ethernet cable which you can plug your computer into the phone cord as well as Wi-Fi and the password can be accessed at the Bartley Front Desk. There is also a small kitchenette on the floor with a microwave, coffee maker and kettle.

Getting Around

Parking On-Campus

Parking passes are required Monday-Friday 7am-6pm. You can be purchased through the Conference Services Office for $4.00 per pass per day. Parking passes can also be purchased through any parking kiosks for $6.00 per day. Permits are not required for parking on University property between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays, Sundays, or official University holidays.

City Parking

Downtown Thunder Bay has metered parking on most streets and a mix of parking lots and garages.

Thunder Bay Transit

Thunder Bay Transit provides bus service within the urban area of the City of Thunder Bay. Safe, reliable, economical, and environment-friendly, Transit buses can take you virtually anywhere within the urban area of our city.
