Notification of the bursary application becoming available will be made through myInfo, communication notices, emails to your Lakehead University account as well as physical advertising campaigns posted at locations throughout the Lakehead University.
Students completing the above applications for are encouraged to apply for the online Fall/Winter Bursary in order to be considered for other donor-funded bursaries. We strongly recommend all students to self-identify when filling out any applications.
Successful applicants for the Indigenous Students Bursary will need to complete a Notice of Collection of Personal Information form.
First Generation Bursary
The Ontario First Generation Bursary provides aid to post-secondary students with financial need who are attending publicly-assisted colleges and universities in Ontario. This bursary is specifically for students whose parents have never attended post-secondary studies.
You must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be considered for this bursary:
You’re attending a publicly-assisted college or university in Ontario
Your parent(s) have never completed a post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate anywhere in the world.
You’re enrolled in a first-entry undergraduate program. Second entry programs like law or medicine, as well as graduate programs, are not eligible.
You do not already have a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate.
You meet citizenship and Ontario residency requirements as outlined on the OSAP Application for Full-Time Students.
You have demonstrated financial need based on the criteria as set out by your school.
Applying for either OSAP for Full-Time Students or OSAP for Part-Time Students is not a requirement of this bursary.
