In first year you will be required to take Psychology 1100, Introductory Psychology, which touches on each core area of the discipline. This is to familiarize you with the various elements of Psychology and hopefully introduce you to a topic you would like to explore moving forward throughout the program.
If you choose an Arts stream, the balance of your courses must be within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. If you are pursuing a Science stream, the balance of your courses will fall under the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies.
You may earn up to six bonus points to add to your final Introductory Psychology grade by participating in research, or by writing a one page, double-spaced, summary of a Psychology article (1% per 1 hour of research participation or research summary) or a combination of the two. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity as it will expand your understanding of the discipline while boosting your final grade. Listings of psychology experiments available for credit are constantly updated throughout the year.
