First Year at a Glance

In first year you will be required to take the following courses:

  • Introduction to Kinesiology
  • Physical Growth and Motor Development
  • Principles of Health: A Physical Activity Perspective
  • Concepts of Fitness, Nutrition, and Wellness
  • Movement Observation and Assessment

You will also be required to complete Chemistry 1210 (Organic Biochemistry for Health Sciences) and an English credit.

First year Kinesiology studies set the stage for higher level courses such as:

  • Psychology of Physical Activity
  • Sociology of Physical Activity and Sport
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Exercise Prescription
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Human Anatomy

Electives are available each year to explore other topics outside of Kinesiology.
