First Year at a Glance

As a first year Electrical Engineering student you will be required to complete the following courses

  • Engineering 1236 & 1536 - Electric Circuit Theory I & II
  • Engineering 1637 - Computer Logic Circuits
  • Computer Science 1411 - Computer Programming I
  • Mathematics 1071* - Vectors and Matrices
  • Mathematics 1210 & 1230 - Calculus I & II
  • Physics 1070 - Semiconductor Physics
  • Engineering 1232 - Introduction to Microcontrollers
  • Engineering 1634 - Electronics I
  • Engineering 3014 - Engineering Chemistry
  • Engineering 2453 - Computer Communications and Networking

*Students who have completed Gr. 12U Calculus and Vectors with a minimum grade of 60% are not required to take Mathematics 1071.

There are both a lecture and a lab component to each of your courses, requiring approximately 27 hours of in-class time per week.
