As a Lakehead University student, you have the opportunity to join the English Students’ Association (ESA) - an active group of like-minded literature lovers from across all faculties. In addition to hosting and attending creative events and workshops throughout the year, the ESA curates and produces Lakehead University’s bi-annual literary magazine The Artery.
Contributing to The Artery, either as an ESA member or as a writer, is a great creative outlet for English majors in particular as it opens the door to the professional world of writing and literature - from topic development to publication. For more information about joining or contributing to the ESA or The Artery, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
You may consider expanding your knowledge and academic experience overseas through Lakehead University’s Study Abroad Program. In third and fourth year, our English students have gone on to supplement their studies in places as far away as Korea, Singapore, and Sweden - all while gaining credits towards a Lakehead University English degree. Study abroad opportunities can last up to one academic year. For more information visit our Study Abroad page.
At the fourth-year level, you’ll take seminar/special topics classes. These classes tend to coincide with professors’ research areas and offer unique, hands-on learning which is beneficial if you are considering applying to a graduate program. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for current seminar options.
