Co-op/Internship Option

Co-operative Education/Internship (Co-op/Internship) Option Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree programs are available to interested qualified students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering Degree Program in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering. Application is made after you are enrolled in one of the BEng programs, either in Year 2 or Year 3. Normally, a co-op/internship student would accumulate at least sixteen months of practical work experience and graduate a year later than the students enrolled in the regular BEng degree program. In addition to the industrial experience for which the student earns a salary, the option includes prior workshops on interviewing, resume preparation and work performance. Successful completion of each work term requires the submission by the student of a formal work term report to his/her faculty co-op advisor and a satisfactory assessment of the student's performance by the employer. Work term experience will meet the criteria defining professional experience required for licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
