Speaker: Mehmet Yavuz’s (Ph.D. ABD)
Mehmet Yavuz’s (Ph.D. ABD) research interests include divided / post-peace-accord societies, violence, peacebuilding, social justice, 2SLGBTQIA+, queer theory, media and peacebuilding, social movements, conflict transformation, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Northern Ireland, and Turkey. Mehmet has published numerous articles in the following journals: Peace and Conflict Studies, Journal for Justice and Peace, Journal of Ethnic Studies, Interdisciplinary Justice Research, and Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice. His doctoral research investigates queer people’s perceptions and experiences of social justice and peacebuilding in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaker:Christine Hughes
Christine Hughes is a recent MA graduate in Canadian history. Her research focuses on gender and sexuality in Canada, particularly on the history of identity production and community formation. She has been a part of several wonderful feminist history projects, and currently works in healthcare research in the non-profit sector. She lives on the territory of the Wolastoqiyik, in what is currently known as New Brunswick, with her dog, Oscar.
