Recent events in Thunder Bay:

In 2014/15, the Association fund-raised for Our Kids Count and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Thunder Bay. Volunteered at Dew Drop Inn, Our Kids Count, Shelter House, Children’s Aid Society and registered a team for The Coldest Night of the Year. The final event that SWSA organized was a three day event at the Intercity Shopping Mall to raise awareness of bullying and the impacts, followed by a 5 km fundraising walk.

In the Fall semester of 2015, the Association focused on recruitment and also offered an event to provide peer support for second year students navigating the admissions process to the third year of the HBSW program.

 Recent events in Orillia:

We have decided to change the club name from SWSA to Lakehead Association of Student Social Workers.

Recently, our Orillia Campus branch supported Trick or Eat of Halloween for Hunger and Christmas Cheer.  We also helped out with an event on November 25, 2015 where we helped Professor Angela Hovey run an OASW speaking event.
