Philip Adamson, piano

Dr. Philip Adamson at the piano

Canadian pianist Philip Adamson continues to enjoy a varied career. He has performed across Canada and in the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, and has been heard frequently on CBC radio. He has also recorded internationally acclaimed albums of twentieth century French and English piano music for the Centaur label.

A former assistant to Marion Hall at Indiana University, Philip Adamson’s approach to the pedagogy of piano technique is both unusual and highly successful.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian University Music Society for eight years and is now an honorary life member. Formerly a faculty member of Carleton University, the University of Ottawa and the University of Manitoba, Dr. Adamson has taught for many years at the University of Windsor. He has given papers and lecture recitals at national and international conferences on practising, and the piano music of British serialists, Karol Szymanowski, André Jolivet, Olivier Messiaen, Arnold Bax, and Frank Bridge.

Philip Adamson is also active as an adjudicator and clinician.
