2016 Math Kangaroo Contest Orillia

The International Mathematical Kangaroo Contest is an international mathematical competition that takes place in 51 countries around the world.  In 2015, more that 6 million students from grade 1 to grade 12 participated in the contest. Among them, there were about 4,197 Canadian students.

In Canada, the 2016 Math Kangaroo contest is available in Brandon, Calgary, Camrose, Charlottetown, Coquitlam, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Guelph, Halifax, Kelowna, Lethbridge, London, Mississauga, Montreal, Moncton, North Bay, North York, Orillia, Ottawa, Peterborough, Powell River, Red Lake, Regina, Rimouski, Saguenay, Saint John, Scarborough, Sherbrooke, St. Catharines, St. John's, Sudbury, Sidney, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Vancouver, Waterloo, and Winnipeg.

The Orillia contest will take place on

Sunday, March 20, 2016

Between 11:00am and 12:30pm

Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, Simcoe Hall

Registration is online at mathkangaroo.ca between January 5, 2016 and March 15, 2016.  The registration fee is $17.  Twenty bursaries of $17 will be given to cover the registration fee for 20 students. The application for the bursaries is available at the administrator website under the Documents/CMKCdocs folder. The deadline to apply for a bursary is February 15, 2016.

ON-LINE TRAINING FOR GRADES 1 TO 8

Same session in two alternative dates:  

February 27 or March 5, 2016 for grades 1 - 8 in English

February 28, 2016 in French

ON-LINE TRAINING FOR GRADES 9 & 10

February 28, 2016 in French

March 6, 2016 in English

The schedule for on-line training is available on the website mathkangaroo.ca.  There are different times assigned to the different grades.  The registration is on-line from the participant's account. There is a fee of $10 to participate in the on-line training. The fee must be paid on-line at the moment of registration.

A free on-site training session will be held at Lakehead University Orillia on March 10, 2016 at 4:00pm.  If you plan to participate in the on-site training session, please send an email to Grazia Viola at mviola@lakeheadu.ca. On the Kangaroo website, you will also be able to find copies of old exams to practice. The exams range from 45 minutes for grades 1- 2 to 75 minutes for grades 5 - 12.
