History for Lunch on 5 October will feature the short documentary film "Enemy Aliens in Fort William."

During WWI, Ukrainian Canadians were deemed enemy aliens by the government. Some ended up in prisoner-of-war camps while many others were unable to find work. The entire community suffered. This film tells the story of the Ukrainians in Fort William, and sheds important light on the experience of enemy aliens in Canada during the war.

History for Lunch is a lecture series sponsored by the Department of History and, in recognition of the centennial of the First World War, is focused this year on non-Canadian aspects of the conflict. This is an opportunity to put a bit of History in your diet and for members of the Department of History to showcase their research. More information about the sessions can be found on the   Department of History website (history.lakeheadu.ca) and on our Facebook page (facebook.com/lakeheadhistory)
