Dr. Rick Holmes named Professor Emeritus of English

Congratulations to Dr. Rick Holmes on being named Professor Emeritus. In nearly three decades at Lakehead, Dr. Holmes made significant contributions to the Department of English and Lakehead University as a teacher, researcher, and administrator. The recipient of the Distinguished Instructor Award in 2000, Dr. Holmes is an exemplary teacher, lauded by many students for being an inspiring lecturer. The author of two books, including most recently Julian Barnes (2009), and numerous peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Holmes’s research is focused on 20th and 21st century British literature, and he is an internationally recognized expert on contemporary British fiction. He was the recipient of a Contribution to Research Award in 1998. Dr. Holmes also served terms as both Graduate Coordinator and Department Chair, and contributed to many other committees in the Department and across the university. The Department thanks Dr. Holmes for all his contributions, and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
