Biology Department & Graduate Seminar Series - Dr. Cody Dey

Event Date:
Friday, November 11, 2016 - 3:30pm EST
Event Location:
ATAC1010(TB)/OR1026(O)

Evolution by social selection: dominance and signalling in group-living animals.

Presented by Dr. Cody Dey

Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research, University of Windsor

Host: Dr. Michael Rennie

All welcome to attend.

Videoconference to Orillia.

Cody is a behavioural ecologist by training, who's research examines the impact of environmental change on interspecific interactions, and the influence of social and sexual selection on trait evolution. Cody has examined these problems in a variety of vertebrate taxa (birds, fish, mammals), using laboratory, field and computer simulation-based techniques. He recently gave a presentation to our lab group on using Netlogo (an agent based computer model) to evaluate the predicted impacts of ecosystem changes on individual behaviour.

If you are interested in meeting with Cody on Friday, please let me know and I will arrange a meeting. I will also likely take him out for lunch at the Outpost, so if you’d like to join for a more informal discussion, please feel free.
