The Department of History and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities are pleased to support Spotlight on Academics, a film festival that presents the world through an academic lens.
At a time when online resources are more important than ever, Spotlight on Academics provides educators with an opportunity to view award-winning films that are relevant to their teaching needs. Our judges are filmmakers and academics, and our target audience is people who are interested in learning and sharing knowledge through film. We select films based on academic merit and production value. Our films come from around the world and there is something for everyone.
Spotlight on Academics is free and will stream on ResearchTV.ca from January 21-28, 2022.
The films are grouped together in thematic sessions and can be viewed at any time during the week-long festival. Instructors are welcome to search the festival’s offerings for films suitable for use in the classroom and are encouraged to invite students to attend the festival. It is not too late to include one or more of our films in a syllabus for this term because access is free for a week at the end of January.
