Lakehead University Professor to speak at Second Collingwood World Summit
Dr. Rosario Adapon Turvey, Associate Professor with the Department of Sustainability Sciences and Geography at Lakehead University will speak on the topic: Sustainable Urban Economy and Resources at the Second Collingwood World Summit on October 8, 2021 on the occasion of the UN World Habitat Day.
The world summit will run from October 7-8, 2021 and hosted by the Urban Economy Forum (UEF) in partnership with the UN Habitat and the Town of Collingwood. It is organized around the themes on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 11 (sustainable communities and cities). The summit will focus on housing and sustainable development, climate action and environmental protection, urban assessment, benchmarking towards the SDGs, stakeholder participation and good governance.
It will bring together the expertise and knowledge from leading institutions and individuals around the world and emphasize the need for international action in pursuing the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development in towns and urban communities. The roster of invited speakers represents mayors, planners, developers, academics and financial experts from across the globe.
Dr. Turvey recently co-edited the IGI-Global book entitled: “Intellectual, Scientific and Educational Influences on Sustainability Research” with Dr. Sreekumari Kurissery, Professor and Chair of Sustainability Sciences Department at Lakehead.
