Join us in welcoming Dr. Aappo Kähönen, Lakehead University's 10th Chair in Finnish Studies. As part of this event, he will present a brief talk on his research project entitled "State-building: Finland, Russia and the Finnish-Canadians."

Dr. Kähönen's previous research has focused on comparing Finnish and Russian state-building as means for analyzing their societies and foreign relations, as well as creating and controlling borders between the countries. While in Thunder Bay, he will be studying the changing attitudes towards the Canadian state in Finnish-Canadian communities between the 1920s and 1960s.

His presentation will be via Zoom: https://lakeheadu.zoom.us/j/97033109223
