Together, Aboriginal Initiatives and Aboriginal Cultural and Support Services extend a warm, campus-wide invitation to the Lakehead University community to our annual Fall Harvest. 

All students, staff and faculty are invited to come out and experience Aboriginal culture through teachings given by our traditional Elders. 

As part of Orientation Week at Lakehead University our Fall Harvest will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2013, starting at 11am. Come celebrate the change of season while learning about bannock and tea • moccasin making • beading • frying fresh fish • participate in a medicine walk • wild rice - winnowing & cooking • Indian corn soup • children's crafts • storytelling.

Everyone is welcome to join us, as we welcome Lakehead University’s new and returning students.

Aboriginal Initiatives and Aboriginal Cultural & Support Services look forward to hosting an Aboriginal Student Orientation Day on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 on the patio below the President's Balcony from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Dr. Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux, Vice Provost, Aboriginal Initiatives, along with other dignitaries will welcome Aboriginal students to campus and to the city itself. Information tables will be set-up with representation from various campus and off-campus organizations.

Attendance prize draws for students including a MacBook Pro and various gift cards will be held and lunch will be served in The Outpost beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Following lunch, students can take a tour of the City of Thunder Bay with Thunder Bay Transit leaving the Agora at 1:00 p.m. and returning at 4:00 p.m. Stops at various points of interest will be made throughout the tour.

The day will wrap-up with prize draws being held in the Office of Aboriginal Initiatives. Staff and faculty are invited to join us, as we welcome Lakehead University's new and returning Aboriginal students.
