General Numbers:

In general, spell out whole numbers below 20 and use figures for 20 and above.

Example: There were eighteen players on the team.

Example: We had 24 applications for the job.

In a series there will often be a mixture.

Example: There are 27 trees: two beeches, one pine, and 24 maples.

When starting a sentence with a number, write it out in long form.

Example: Three years ago she began studying music; she completed her studies in 26 months.

Phase One or Phase 1:

Either one is correct, just be consistent.

Million:

Either way is correct, just be consistent.

Example: $1.5M in new infrastructure funding was received from the provincial government.

Example: $1.5 million in new infrastructure funding was received from the provincial government.

Phone Numbers:

Use dashes not periods. Preferred use is with brackets.
