Language & Styleguide: Names for Campus Buildings

Lakehead has two campuses – one in Orillia and one in Thunder Bay:

  • Do not refer to the Orillia campus as being a “satellite” campus
  • Do not refer to the new Orillia campus, located at 500 University Avenue, as being the “permanent” campus.
  • Do not refer to Orillia's two locations as campuses.  Use the word 'site'
    • Lakehead University Orillia's downtown site
    • Lakehead University Orillia's University Avenue site

Buildings at Lakehead University Orillia, 500 University Avenue Orillia, Ontario, L3V 0B9, are known as:

  • Simcoe Hall
  • Residence
  • Café/Bookstore

Building at Lakehead University Orillia, 1 Colborne St. West, Orillia, Ontario, L3V 7X5, is known as:

  • Heritage Place

Rented facilities in downtown Orillia:

  • Town Court, 27 West Street S., Orillia, Ontario L3V 3A6
